Governance
The Naoero Soccer Federation is the governing body for football in the Republic of Naoero, working under the Naoero Olympic Committee. This is how we are organised and what we are working towards.
Flagship initiative
Naoero Football Academy & Resilience Hub
Many island nations are fighting for their survival as climate change threatens their culture, population and existence. We believe football is a strong force for social good and climate resilience, and Naoero can show how.
The Hub combines three things. A football ground where Naoeroans play, future national teams play their home games and the federation has its office; a haven for biodiversity with a climate-resilient turf, water tanks, a greenhouse and a canteen that serves as a community shelter during floods. A training centre shared with EcoNauru, the island's largest climate NGO, providing after-school education with the same grassroots ideology. And a curriculum that develops football minds on tactics while teaching the same young people about fresh water, food and resilience.
With connecting flights to nations not yet affiliated to the OFC or FIFA, such as Palau, the Marshall Islands and Micronesia, the Academy can grow into a centre for players from across the region.

The people who do the work
Questions about partnerships, the grassroots programme or the campaigns go to the people below. We work as volunteers, from Naoero, Europe and Asia.

Anil KumarStrategy and RelationsBuilding strategies and pioneering in uncharted territories sums up Anil's expertise in his work for football: using the sport as a force for good in places where commercial might has not yet spoiled the beautiful game. Bringing together sometimes unlikely coalitions of people, organisations and football projects is what he does best. Anil has worked for local governments in the Netherlands in various management roles and is experienced in international diplomacy. He is key in creating and managing the federation's fundamental relationships and strategies.
